COVID-19 and Fundraising

We started Stop the Cycle in the Fall of 2019. We had a very successful auction with strong support coming from this wonderful community. We had plans for a raffle in the spring of 2020 . . . but COVID-19 made that difficult. The raffle was put on hold. However, we decided to have a yardsale in early June. Using the VFW building in Salem, we had a large space so people could maintain social distancing while browsing.
Again, the community showed its generosity and support. Donations continued to flow in prior to and throughout the three days of the sale. The tables were overflowing. The volunteers were a bit worried about what we would do with the items remaining at the end of the sale. We even thought about getting a UHaul van carry it to another nonprofit that would have a resale shop. However, by the end of the third day, there was a lot of empty space on the tables. It was amazing how much sold and how much we were able to raise to continue our quest to reduce the number of unwanted pets in Fulton and Sharp Counties by getting as many pets spayed and neutered as possible.
In spite of COVID-19, it looks like we'll end up helping as many pets in 2020 as we did in 2019 and, hopefully, more!
